Projet de catalogue de logiciels

Bonjour,

I’m going to try to document the format of open-software-base-yaml, mostly to get a better understanding of the intended semantics. Unless I’m told this has already been done or that it’s not the best use of my time as a contributor

It turned out to be less work than I anticipated (which is always a great surprise ;-). The merge request is up for review when you have time @eraviart.

Merged. Thanks @dachary.

@eraviart after the short talk we had this afternoon I thought a bit about using wikidata to store the facts of the https://framagit.org/codegouv/open-software-base-yaml that is used by ogptoolbox to display results. It essentially boils down to storing a point to the wikibase item matching the tool.

It means the facts stored and used by the ogptoolbox are subject to the same notability policy as wikidata. There are pro and cons to this and although I believe the pros outweigh the cons, it is ultimately a decision that belongs to the current leads.

@eraviart @paula.forteza what do you think ?

I am motivated to work on merge-open-software-base-yaml to make that happen. It could be as simple as adding a wikidata field with the QXXXX id of the item (for instance Q356641 for adhocracy. The display software can then be modified to include a SPARQL query to retrieve information from the wikidata query service in the same way wikidata-to-yaml already does. Only via javascript embedded in the display page as SQID instead of in batch from a python script.

Update: looking a bit closer, there is no need to do anything. The id of the wikidata item is not in the cannonical part of the open-software-base yaml file but it is in the wikidata section

I am motivated to improve the display of open-software-base-yaml, either via ogptoolbox or open-software-base-explorer so that it collects facts from the wikidata query service, and possibly fallback to the canonical section of open-software-base-yaml if nothing is found.

Alternatively, SQID could be forked to also display descriptions and other textual content (as opposed to facts) from open-software-base-yaml instead of just facts (see the adhocracy item for an example). The fork could be maintained at a minimal distance from upstream to reduce the rebasing effort. The upside of that approach is to benefit from a lively codebase.

It would also be possible to display wikipedia entries instead of writing and storing custom descriptions or use cases. It would of course mean that only software matching the notability requirements of wikipedia are part of the ogptoolbox. It may be a good option as it reduces the development efforts to the strict minimum. The ogptoolbox would still need to be developped as an independant project for the sake of selecting what belongs and what does not, but it would leverage all wikimedia projects have to offer.

Hello,

https://web.archive.org/web/20150626085648/http://www.novaforge.org/novaforge/fr-partager/methodologie
